What do you do when the words won’t come?
It would be easy to just stop writing, to lay aside the ideas notebook, to close the laptop. However, that is not an option. I can no more stop writing than I can stop breathing. Words or no words, I am still a writer, and write I must.
I have notebooks full of writing. There are ideas for novels; personal journals; wish lists; bucket lists; travel journals; dedicated shopping lists; to do lists; character names and traits; books to read; recipes to try; blog posts to do. If you can think it, I probably have a notebook for it.
So when the words wont come for my current novel in progress, I open something else, and while away a few pleasant hours percolating (my word for procrastinating, after all, a writer is always percolating one idea or another).
It is never long until my fingers are itching to return to my current project.
