I love using a small town setting in my romance novels, there are so many possibilities and challenges that characters can face, particularly when it comes to gossip and misunderstandings!
Small towns also, typically, are more close knit, perfect for a ‘suspicious stranger in town’ type romance.
I was raised in a small town in New South Wales (one which no one has ever heard of), only moving to the city as a teenager. That was an eye opener! As much as I enjoy certain cities, with the exception of London, I could never live in one again, all the grey colours and rush, rush, rush, are far too wearing for me.
What about you, are you a country or city person?
I hear you about the rush, Kathleen. Small town vibes are so much more laid back ❤️
