Today we get to speak with Miss A and hear about her love of reading…
- How long have you been a reader? 40+ years.
- What was the very first book you remember reading? Carbonel by Barbara Sleigh.
- What book had the biggest impact on your life? I don’t think any have impacted my life as such, but many have captured my heart and stayed with me since the first time I read them and probably will be burrowed in forever.
- Your favourite book? The Witching Hour by Anne Rice.
- What is your favourite genre? Romance.
- Your go to reading snack? I always have a drink at hand, whether it’s coffee, water or something else!
- Favourite place to read? Sofa/bed.
- One book you want turned into a movie? Not a movie but a TV series, The Witching Hour by Anne Rice. It is a 1200 page book with so much material to unpack and is begging for original material to be added to one particular plotline in the book.
- One book you want a sequel for? The Earthseed Duet by the late great Octavia E. Butler.
- Do you own any book themed items (jewellery, prints, quilts etc)? No.
- How many books do you own? Ummmm 1000+ across formats.
- Do you prefer paperback or eBooks? ebooks since discovery in about 2007.
- Do you let people borrow your books? I used to and learnt my lesson when I got another favourite Anne Rice book back and it was no longer a complete book.
- Favourite place to buy books? Kobo as that is my device of choice.
- Ever called in sick to work so you could stay home and finish a book? No.
- Oldest book you own? A copy of Carbonel that I got from ebay I think…
- How many books on your TBR (to be read) pile? Hundreds, not all owned… yet! Certainly enough that I’ll never run out of books or read them all lol!
- Do you have a book character crush? Many! The last significant one was Teresa July from Beverly Jenkins’ fabulous Wild Sweet Love.
- Do you re-read your books? Only my TOP TOP favs, or series books where I need to remind myself what happened when the next book comes out, which I try to limit by mostly binge reading series. Too many ‘new’ books for re-reading to be a big thing for me. I already struggle for the time to get to all the unread books that I want to dive into!
- If you could only have three books to read for the rest of your life, what would they be? 3 single books?… impossible choice. But The Witching Hour by Anne Rice would definitely be one and it is so long it could count as 3 or 4 books! Wolfsong by TJ Klune, a third choice is hard because it could be any number of favourites from a number of different genres… 10 would be hard but 3 is impossible.
